WALTER Walter Baker Trench :: $45 (msrp $398) :: size large

IMG_1135_thumb IMG_1130_thumb IMG_1126_thumbIMG_9594_thumb1

the jacket pictured above is not the actual jacket for sale; that one is mine :)

WHAT IT IS… A Walter Walter Baker lightweight animal-printed double-breasted collared trench coat with button closures down the front and a buckled belt and a polyester interior lining.  The exterior is 100% cotton.

WHY I LOVE IT…  I became obsessed with this trench a few months ago and hunted it down for myself, plus sold a couple here.  I was itching for a super fab lightweight jacket for spring (mid Winter is a great time to get a steal) and was so happy to have found it.  It has been featured on The Today Show, sold on Ideeli (for a higher price than here) and loved endlessly by yours truly.  Now you can have one too!

HOW TO WEAR IT… I put a cardigan on under mine on chilly days because I am antsy to start wearing it :)  Otherwise, I love it with skinnies or leggings and a pair of flats.  Go for heels if you want a dressier look, and it looks great.  It’s super versatile and I love wearing it with my pink scarf.

ON THE FIT… true to size as a large.

Romeo & Juliet Couture Top :: $17 (msrp $152) :: size s/m

IMG_1106_thumb IMG_1138_thumb1

WHAT IT IS… A black over white top with cutout designs from Romeo & Juliet Couture (retails for $152).

WHY I LOVE IT… First of all, I am a huge black and white fan.  And I love a chic pattern – this top accomplishes both by using a black overlay with a white lining – the pattern is actually tiny cutouts in the black.  So pretty!

HOW TO WEAR IT… I paired it with black skinnies, a bright pink cardigan and black pumps.  I wanted to add color without detracting from the pattern, which is why I chose a simple solid cardigan.  I also wanted to balance the structured shape and the geometric pattern with a flowy top, which is another reason why I thought that cardigan would work.  But, this top would go with just about anything.  Try it with a pair of gray slacks for work, or for something even more stunning – some pretty white pants.  On the weekend, a pair of jeans will do, and a cardi if it’s chilly.

ON THE FIT… Pretty much all R&J runs small.  This fits like a small.

Vertigo Paris Top :: $22 (msrp $170) :: size xl (fits large)

IMG_1379_thumb[1] IMG_1383_thumb

WHAT IT IS… A pretty fawn colored top with leaf sleeve print from Vertigo Paris (retails for $170).

WHY I LOVE IT… Taupe, purple and ivory– this is such a wonderful color combination!  It’s perfect for spring and the print is both subtle and gorgeous.

HOW TO WEAR IT… I would love this with cream or chocolate trousers and a golden layered necklace or cuff bracelet.  Add a sweater if you like – go for a cream or ivory cardigan.  So pretty!

ON THE FIT… this is listed as an extra large but looks to be closer to a large.

Dimri Maxi Skirt :: $19 (msrp $68) :: size small

IMG_1375_thumb[1] IMG_1385_thumb1 IMG_1389_thumb2

WHAT IT IS… An ankle length maxi skirt with paisley print, gorgeous green and blue hues, tiny gold bell detailing and a gorgeous decorative embroidered hemline from Dimri (retails for $68).

WHY I LOVE IT… Soooo much to love!  This skirt is so incredibly swishy and flowy and gorgeous!  I am completely obsessed with the gorgeous colors – that blue in particular.  Everything about this skirt is pretty and feminine and perfect for Spring 2011.

HOW TO WEAR IT… Add a top in a complimenting color – try poppy, like I did, or a lovely coral.  You can even go with purple (to bring out the details in the skirt) or chocolate or a golden beige.  You can put some gladiator sandals on the bottom, or even some platform cork wedge sandals.

ON THE FIT… listed as a small and fits like a small.  Elastic waist band gives some leeway.

Romeo & Juliet Couture Floral Top :: $19 (msrp $141) :: size xs

IMG_1365_thumb IMG_1387_thumb[1]

WHAT IT IS… A pretty floral top with tie straps and decorative buttons down the front.  The waist area is cinched with elastic and the hem hits at the hip area.  From Romeo & Juliet Couture, retails for $141.

WHY I  LOVE IT… This covers some of my favorite spring trends – a great pattern and a pretty, feminine top.  I love that this top is a little longer, so you can wear it untucked with skinny jeans and it will look just as great as it does tucked in to slacks.

HOW TO WEAR IT… Pairing it with white is a natural choice because of the spring-like print – but by no means is it your only choice.  I’d love to see it with a pair of gray trousers and a cute black cardi, or even with jeans and a beige blazer or yellow sweater, if you have one.

ON THE FIT… This is listed as an extra small and fits like a 2/4.

Juicy Couture Tracksuit :: $79 (msrp $238) :: size medium

 IMG_1163_thumb[1] IMG_1175_thumb IMG_1177_thumb5

This one needs no introduction… a super cute cotton magenta Juicy set, just in time for spring.  I have never found a Juicy Couture Tracksuit at such a great price and probably won’t again anytime soon.  Sooo jealous of whoever gets it!

On the fit:  true to size as a medium.

***Sale!*** 120% Lino Skirt :: $12 (msrp $150) :: size M/L

IMG_0978_thumb IMG_0986_thumb3

WHAT IT IS… A super cute linen skirt with interior lining and drawstring closure from 120% Lino.

WHY I LOVE IT… I am crazy about this skirt!  This is one of those pieces that become a regular part of your spring and summer wardrobe for years to come.  I wanted to give us some new perspective, so I asked the lovely Carrie from Couture Carrie a few questions about it.  I love her blog – she has an unbelievable eye for fashion (and all things fabulous) and I definitely recommend checking it out.

This skirt is a pretty pink-coral; what other colors would you pair this with?  CC loves this fun, flirty color!  I'd pair it with jazzy neutrals, like a matte sequined J. Crew cami and some tan leather Diane von Furstenberg wedge sandals (at jcrew.com and net-a-porter.com, respectively).

Do you have any tips on how/where/when to wear linen clothing?  Linen is best worn in warmer weather due to its breathability.  One thing to remember when wearing linen is that it is prone to wrinkling... Not to worry, though; just go with it!  Starched and ironed linen just looks too fussy.  This gorgeous little linen skirt would be perfect for a summer barbecue at the Cape or a night out on the town in Key West!

This is a fuller skirt; what type of tops are going to best compliment the skirt's silhouette?  CC suggests wearing a more fitted, structured top with a fuller skirt, to create a balanced silhouette.  I may even wear a bustier top with a skirt of this shape!

Anything you would like to add?  It has been a real pleasure guest blogging here today... Thanks, Genevieve!

ON THE FIT… This is listed as a large and fits anywhere from a medium to large because it has a drawstring closure.

French Connection Print Top :: $19 (msrp $88) :: size s/4

IMG_1370_thumb IMG_1384_thumb[1]

WHAT IT IS… A print halter with bandeau style bust, empire seam and tie back from French Connection (retails for $88).

WHY I LOVE IT… I love a top that makes my life easy, and this one does exactly that.  It’s a crazy cute piece which means the rest of your outfit is a piece of cake.  Also, if you look closely at the pattern, it is reminiscent of flowers and dragonflies, two of my favorites.  The colors look great against the black background and the overall print is very flattering.

HOW TO WEAR IT… Ahh, the easy part!  Add skinny jeans and heels or gladiator sandals and you are done!  You can put this with black skinnies (try rolling the cuff) or regular jean leggings.  You are also welcome to pair it with a flare leg and platform cork sandals for the super trendy 70s chic.

ON THE FIT… This is listed as a size 4 – but it runs a bit small and fits closer to a 2.

Oliver Peoples CASELLA Sunglasses :: $99 (msrp $390)

IMG_1405_thumb[1]

Ummm hello awesome sunglasses.  I should never have agreed to post sunglasses here – they are my absolute most favorite accessory and it’s killing me to put my hands on these and then let me go!  At any rate, these are a flipping hot pair of Oliver Peoples.  They are black plastic with a cat-inspired lens shape – most magazines will tell you this is the hottest shape on the market right now. Comes with black case and cleaning cloth.

Generra Blazer :: $55 (msrp $275) :: size 4

IMG_1416_thumb[1] IMG_1468_thumb[1]

WHAT IT IS… A pebbled-colored two-button 3/4-sleeve cotton collared blazer from Generra (retails for $275).  Comes with extra buttons.

WHY I LOVE IT… Well for starters, I own one JUST like it from bcbgmaxazria.  In fact, the outfit I have pictured above is the outfit I was already wearing before I took the picture – except I was wearing my own identical jacket in it’s place!  I have said many times before that my blazers HAVE to be able to be either dressed up or dressed down.  I just can’t rock a shiny blazer with jeans, no matter how much I want to.  So this one’s perfect – it’s cotton and it’s the perfect neutral pebble color that goes with everything – silver, gold, jewel tones, black, white – don’t you just love that??

HOW TO WEAR IT… This is a fitted blazer, not boyfriend, which mean… you can wear it with your new wide legs or flare jeans and look totally awesome!!  Or, add it with a skirt or slacks for work.  I’d like to see you stick with a fitted shirt underneath that falls just below the hemline of the blazer, if you want a casual look.

ON THE FIT… Quite unfortunately for me, this blazer is TRUE to size as a 4.  (If anyone comes across one in a 2 – tell me!  I believe you can’t have enough adorable fitted blazers!)

Marc Jacobs Sunglasses :: $89 (msrp $346)

IMG_1401_thumb1

Love me some MJ (my own sunglasses are Marc Jacobs).  I want to highlight that these are NOT Marc by Marc Jacobs – these are straight up Marc Jacobs!  The style is MJ022/S and the color is G4C, or rose plastic rims and silver metal temples.  They are big and glamorous!  Comes with black case.  I seriously love these!

Paige Premium Denim Silverlake Shorts :: $29 (msrp $158)

IMG_1474_thumb IMG_1482_thumb IMG_1524_thumb1

\WHAT IT IS… A pair of Paige Premium Denim Silverlake Shorts, cutoff style, 5 pockets, zipper closure, Paige logo on back – retails for $158.

WHY I LOVE IT… What’s not to love?  Everyone loves denim shorts – they are a MUST in every woman’s wardrobe.  I love the cutoff style, and the fact that these are short but not TOO short like you sometimes find.  Like all Paige denim, they are incredibly soft and comfortable and fit like a glove.  There is a reason why so many women swear by this brand, trust me!

HOW TO WEAR IT… You don’t need my help here, but I will tell you that I love a pair of denim shorts with a button down and some flat sandals.  It’s such a breezy, casual look.

ON THE FIT…  ***IMPORTANT!***  I have these available in two sizes: 28 and 29.  Paige runs a touch small, so you want to order a SIZE UP.  If you already own Paige, then you know your size – they fit just like the jeans.  If you don’t own Paige, here is a size chart that will help you determine your size.

Anama Dress :: $25 (msrp $85) :: size large

IMG_1515_thumb IMG_1519_thumb IMG_1528_thumb

WHAT IT IS… A gorgeous ankle length v-neck tie strap halter dress with a stunning design on the front.

WHY I LOVE IT… I am totally in love with the design – I think the colors are gorgeous and the placement (right over the midsection) is super flattering for anyone who generally steers clear of the solid maxi dresses.  I love the v-neck and the lightweight flowy fabric.  Such a pretty pretty dress!

HOW TO WEAR IT… Add sandals and go!  Actually, I tried this belted because it was too big for me and I really love how it came out.  I’m also a big fan of how it looks with that denim jacket.  Ad some dangly earrings or hoops and lots of bangles and that’s all you need for the perfect picnic, baby shower or cook-out outfit this spring!

ON THE FIT… this is true to size as a large.

French Connection Striped Tank :: $19 (msrp $75) :: size medium

IMG_1482_thumb IMG_1521_thumb1

This is a super adorable striped tank from French Connection.  This is a great basic for warm weather and could easily become your go-to tank, which is why I wanted to make sure I get this posted here.  And the price?  Yeah, that’s great too!

French Connection Pink Top :: $19 (msrp $85) :: size medium

IMG_1512_thumb IMG_1488_thumb IMG_1522_thumb1

This top is just plain adorable and I had to buy it because the price was just as great.  I LOVE the color, it’s one of my favorites right now, and I love a top that is super functional – able to be worn with jeans, skirts, suits, shorts – whatever.  Looking at my pictures, I would really like to see it with a layered or chunky necklace too!

Kay Unger Jacket :: $69 (msrp $338)

IMG_1821_thumb5

WHAT IT IS… A lovely, classic, fully lined black blazer/jacket with two button design, ruffle front pockets and structured cut – hits right at the hip – from Kay Unger New York (retails for $338).

WHY I  LOVE IT… This is a wardrobe stable, to say the least.  It’s an upscale jacket that will last forever.  Fabulous cut, quality and detailing.

ON THE FIT… This is listed as a 10 and fits like an 8/10 or a classic size medium.

Sugar Lips Flared Pant :: $35 (msrp $98) :: size medium

 IMG_1812_thumb5 IMG_1807_thumb5 IMG_1814_thumb6

WHAT IT IS… A pale blue lightweight pant with flared leg, button/zipper closure and drawstring closure, two back buttoned flap pockets and silver hardware from Sugar Lips (msrp $98). INSEAM 32.5”, RISE 8.5”

WHY I  LOVE IT… I AM OBSESSED WITH THESE.  The are the most comfy pants ever.  And they have a drawstring which I absolutely love – you can make them fit exactly how you wish.  I love the big flare and I am so excited to wear mine with a pair of sandals as soon as the weather allows! (Which should be really soon, thankfully)

HOW TO WEAR IT… In the first photo I tucked the drawstring into the pant (so there would be no evidence of it through the shirt) and paired it with a nice blouse and heels.  This totally works for the office.  In the second photo, I dressed them down with a striped tee (tucked in so we can see our bow tied drawstring) and leather sandals.  I love it both ways.

ON THE FIT… These are listed as a medium and are true to size.  They fit like a 6 or so.  There is a drawstring so you can get them to fit just right.

Scrapbook Tube Top :: $14 (msrp $48) :: size medium

IMG_1802_thumb6 IMG_1817_thumb5

WHAT IT IS… A lovely tangerine tube top with elastic top and waistline, lace trim and floral print detail from Scrapbook (msrp $48).

WHY I  LOVE IT… Here is a classic example of buying something that is not “designer”, but just crazy adorable at an awesome price.  I absolutely love the color of this top, the lace detail and the flowers.  I love everything about it!  Ridiculously cute and feminine.

HOW TO WEAR IT… I love giving it a 70’s vibe with some wide or flare leg pants and platform wedges.  This cut will also allow you to wear it with skinny jeans, no problemo.  This is a bold color, so you can keep the rest of your outfit relatively neutral if you don’t feel like putting much work into it.  Or, add a pink detail – a jacket, shoe or handbag – I LOVE pink and orange together.

ON THE FIT… This is listed as a medium but COULD fit a small if you want it looser.  The elastic is fitted enough that it will work (it fits me pretty good, for reference).

Woo Floral Top :: $19 (msrp $125) :: size xs

IMG_1806_thumb8 IMG_1356_thumb IMG_1386_thumb1

WHAT IT IS… A pretty floral cross-back camisole top with eyelet trim and empire seam from Staci Woo (retails for $125).

WHY I  LOVE IT… A big floral pattern and feminine eyelet trim – big favorites of mine for Spring 2011.  Everything about this top is girly without being TOO girly – the pattern and colors especially are totally gorgeous.  That green just makes me melt!

HOW TO WEAR IT… This top has a loose fit with a structured cut – it’s that perfect in-between style that can swing toward skinny pants or wide legs.  I love it with a blazer, and could even see it tucked into to a gorgeous long white maxi skirt.  So chic!

ON THE FIT… This is listed as an extra small and fits like a 2/4.

WHAT IT IS… A cotton/poly poplin cross front dress with v-neck from American Apparel (msrp $36).

WHY I LOVE IT… I love purple A LOT.  I also love American Apparel – it’s one of the easiest brands to wear because you don’t really have to think too much about it.  This is a great basic dress that can be worn all spring, summer and fall.

HOW TO WEAR IT… Wear it with or without leggings.  In the summer, you can easily throw on a pair of sandals and a light jacket and look totally cute with pretty much no effort.  I especially love this with grey or animal prints – I wish I had photographed it with my Walter Baker leopard trench!

ON THE FIT… true to size as an extra small.

Want more pictures?  Check out the Bluefly listing.

It is safe to say that I have never met a MbMJ bag I didn’t like, and this one is no exception.  Let’s do a quick rundown of why this bag is fab.

  1. Turquoise.  Love it.
  2. Zippers – I LOVE decorative zipper detailing on bags, as you may have picked up on already!
  3. Crossbody.  Essential.
  4. It’s small which means you can stick it right in your work tote and then – bam! – pull it out at the end of the day or on the weekend without all that pesky purse-switching.
  5. It’s MbMJ UNDER 80 bucks.  Nuff said.

This bag measures 9” wide by 6” tall and is made of genuine Italian leather.

Vertigo Paris Pleated Top :: $22 (msrp $140)

IMG_1910_thumb6 IMG_1917_thumb6

WHAT IT IS… A sleeveless tuxedo pleated top with subtly banded waistline and rhinestone closure in the back from Vertigo Paris (retails for $140).

WHY I LOVE IT… All three colors are gorgeous and the tuxedo-style pleating is flattering for so many different shapes.  And Vertigo Paris, true to form, has paid attention to the little things; I love that the back closure is adorned with two sparkling rhinestones.  This is a loose-fitting, breezy, gorgeous top that anyone can wear.

HOW TO WEAR IT… Dress up a pair of skinny jeans with this top, or wear it with a pair of bootcut slacks to work.  The white and black will go with anything, but I would love to see that purple mixed with gray, taupe or cream.

WHAT IT IS… A pair of 7 For All Mankind bootcut jeans in New Nolita wash with genuine Swarovski crystal back pocket design, silvertone hardware, 32” inseam, 7.25” rise (low rise).

WHY I LOVE IT… 7 For All Mankind Bootcut jeans are one of the more famous, classic pair of jeans ever put on the market.  I have owned about four pairs over time and loved them all to death (literally).  This pair has a gorgeous yet understated Swarovski crystal design on the pockets, putting a chic spin on a classic pair of jeans.

HOW TO WEAR IT… You know how to wear these!

ON THE FIT… true to size as a 26 – these fit like a size 2.

HOW TO WEAR IT… I would totally throw on a pair of flat sandals in the winter and head out the door, if this were mine.  If you want to dress it up, consider a pair of booties or gladiator heels.  A cute jacket or scarf will complete the jacket on chilly days.

ON THE FIT… True to size as a small.

WHY I LOVE IT… I love a great jacket and this one is certainly a great jacket.  The cut is fantastic, the length is flattering for most and the decorative trim gives an overall slimming effect (and interest!).  The color and fabric make this a natural with either your dressy slacks or your favorite jeans – you know this type of blazer versatility is huge with me.

HOW TO WEAR IT… I’ve shown you a few ideas here.  I love this with just about any pant silhouette and I think it looks just as amazing against a bright top as it does against a neutral.

ON THE FIT… This fits like a MEDIUM or a size 8 – though it is listed as a 10 (in other words it runs a bit small).
